Ergonomics Test – a tough test for everyday usability Since 1992, ExtraEnergy has tested pedelecs and e-bikes as an independent organisation. Its riding tests involve instrumented test rides on test circuits for ‘everyday and ‘touring’, with an additional test for off-road pedelecs. The Ergonomics Test then tests the pedelecs for their general practicality. How easy they are to manhandle, how intuitive to understand, and how well they test-ride are all evaluated by as many testers as possible, using a variety of questionnaires. The Ergonomics Test includes tasks such as lifting over steps and up stairs, battery changing, tests for general ease of use and intuitive operation, and brief riding tests. Ride quality both with and without motor assist is evaluated, as well as design and safety aspects. The results of the Test are captured via online questionnaires and then feed in as qualitative data which contributes to the final verdicts of the ExtraEnergy Pedelec and E-Bike Test. We seek 30 testers for each Ergonomics Test. All are welcome to participate. The only restriction is a minimum age limit of 16 years (and for all participants under 18, ExtraEnergy requires the signature of a parent or guardian). Each tester should set aside sufficient time to test at least 20 pedelecs at the six test stations. Each bike will require around 15-20 minutes to test. The test starts on both the 7th and 8th June at 9 AM, with an introductory session. The venue for the event is: Paviljoen de Klip, Katwijkseweg 2, 2242 PA Wassenaar, Netherlands.
