Ozawa, Kazunori

Kazunori Ozawa, Ph.D. ENAX, Japan

Kazunori Ozawa

Staff Editor: Please tell us something about your career and profession.
Kazunori Ozawa: I have been developing and managing ultrasonic delay lines, single crystal of ferrite, video recording tape, evaporated video tape, hard disc and lithium ion batteries in Sony. I left Sony in 1996, and established Enax, Inc.

SE: When and how did you get involved in LEVs?
KO: A high-school team asked me how to use lithium ion
batteries for World Solar Challenge in 1996. I helped them by fi nding lithium ion batteries from a warehouse, and tought them how to use the lithium ion batteries. Their team got third just behind Honda and Mitsubishi even though they are high school students. This solar car was the fi rst EV which run in the public. After then I again went into the business of lithium ion batteries.

SE: What is your personal motivation to work in LEVs?
KO: I believe the technology will help the world.
