EnergyBus-compliant components for the market of the future. Peter Broghammer (Director, Business Development, E-Mobility, Marquardt GmbH) told us more at the Taipei Cycle Show 2016.
This interview was conducted during the Taipei Cycle Show 2016 by Angela Budde (Editor, ExtraEnergy.org/EnergyBus.org). Angela: What motivated you to come to this trade show? Peter: I am here to conduct discussions with suppliers, to check out the latest innovations on the pedelec and e-bike market, and to engage in talks with potential customers. Angela: What components do you have here? Peter: On display we have our HMIs, that is our display/operating units for pedelecs, our battery packs and chargers, plus our Central Control Unit, which is our centralised control system for pedelecs and e-bikes. Angela: Why is Marquardt GmbH presenting its components at the LEV Components Special Exhibition? Peter: All of the major component and system manufacturers are represented on these display walls. So it is vital that were are here too exhibiting alongside them. The great thing is that anyone interested can get an overview of practically every component in a single place. Another advantage is that I myself can look over the latest products from our fellow participants in the market. Furthermore, here I have the opportunity to walk over with interested visitors, present the product, explain the technical details and right on the spot I can point out the differences against competitor products, because everything is clearly laid out all on one table. This lets me clearly demonstrate the advantages of our products in comparison to our competitor’s products. Angela: Which products are EnergyBus compatible? Peter: We have implemented the EnergyBus protocol on all of the products which we are presenting here on the component wall. For customers who would like to have their own CAN protocol, that is also possible of course, because by using extended CAN, we can be very flexible in adapting to customer requirements. Angela: How has the feedback been for EnergyBus products? Peter: Customers find the idea of EnergyBus excellent and they recognise the advantages of a global standard. Many customers are watching the progress of EnergyBus, but are still waiting on its further development. This will change rapidly as soon as the future standard IEC 68151-3-2 / DIN IEC/TS 61851-3-2 (VDE V 0122-3-2) is published. We already offer these products today.
