EveMotion HM-EB26A

At 479 Euro, it's vastly over-priced. Yes, you can ride it and yes, it does assist you on the hills once you've already got it going. Downhill it's all good until you need the brakes… steer clear!

The test riders were unanimous in agreeing that the EveMotion has only one thing going for it – nobody will steal it. If you don’t mind riding a tank, and have low comfort needs, it may come relatively close to the mark. In looks and materials, the overall impression is no longer state of the art. The steel elastomer fork flexes noticeably, without however negatively affecting the generally pleasant handling. On gentle climbs the bike does its job without especially shining – it's 40 kg – when it's rolling it keeps rolling! There's just one power assist level. But that's more than enough. It's not for weak riders, because when starting on a steep hill it takes a lot of effort before the motor finally starts to help. And the noise: on the flat the motor is just moderately noisy, but when climbing the motor is very loud. The six-speed screw-on freewheel and SIS thumb shifters are truly retro – they'd normally be encountered only in a museum. The kick stand clicks into place – so it doesn’t rattle against the loaded bike on descents.
