Neox! Until now a pretty much unknown brand, but it packs in a lot of know-how – with this bike you can ride a little of the future today. Theft protection, easy shifting and low maintenance are all exemplary.
The name is appropriate: the Touring is a sports touring bike whose motor pushes it up to just over 27 km/h, which is well and easily controllable, and which shows no weaknesses when it comes to the ride performance on offer. It is rather hard to reach the ground because of the high bottom bracket, but you can reach phenomenal speeds through the corners. “You can run rings around riders in front, coming out of the curves [motorbike racing champion] Freddy Spencer style using every trick in the book,” wrote one impressed test rider. The electrically-actuated gear shifting impressed too – one test rider said: “No other bike shifted up so well when accelerating, without any break in the power delivery. In fact, as a special treat the software programmers have programmed in a brief push of acceleration when you press the up-shift button. Wow!” The gears, and the chain, which runs in a self-supporting closed chaincase, are distinctly audible at all speeds, but the test riders did not fine the noise irritating. The theft protection is superb: the lock blocks the chain and electronically decouples the gears.
