Stromer ST1 X - Lifestyle Very Good, Sport Road Very Good

The Stromer ST1X impressed with the clear, classic lines of the super-stiff and stable diamond frame and its pleasantly direct form of power assistance, free from any acoustic grandstanding.

A sparkler from Stromer! The sporty riding position inspires a feeling of considerable safety, and the very stiff frame makes it great fun. But tyre pressure is critical to bring the bike into the comfort zone on rougher surfaces. And test riders, irritated by having ridden so many buzzy pedelecs, were especially delighted by the truly silent power assist system on the Stromer: "What a pleasure: no noise, no vibration – just the wind whistling as you ride!”

The motor assists easily up to 38 km/h but after that you will need to put in rather more effort yourself. The display, built into the frame, does direct your vision downwards, so that you no longer have the road ahead or traffic in view. But if you want, you can have the information displayed in large format via a handlebar-mounted smartphone via the Stromer OMNI app. Perhaps almost uniquely currently, this also offers good theft prevention by remote access via the internet. It enables the rightful owner of the bike to lock the bike remotely, and also to track it.
