Stella Arturo - Classic Very Good, Easy Good, City Comfort Good

Chic and functional, with high range for touring and city routes. Easy to use, a discreetly finished aluminium frame in silver grey and a fun ride make this plenty of pedelec for the price.

With the Arturo, the still young but very successful pedelec manufacturer Stella from the Netherlands has managed to combine some of the practicality and easy rolling characteristics of the Dutch bike with the pedelec principle. The wing-like aerofoil design of the fork, with a suspension unit hidden within the steerer tube, are in stark contrast to the rather dignified Dutch appearance of this bike. Even though this steerer tube suspension does feel a little as if there's some play in the headset, it does increase ride comfort. But it's not permitted to give someone a lift on the carrier rack – as is customary in the Netherlands – because with a payload rating of 100 kg you would quickly exceed the limit. A higher payload rating would increase its everyday usability. The Shimano mid motor hummed rather like an old-fashioned bottle dynamo – but it doesn't slow you like one of those did. Rather, it provided dependable assistance on all test route with U-factors of 1.1 to 1.72.
