Stella Copenhague- Classic Test Winner, Easy Good, City-Comfort Good

The Copenhague from Stella pushes smoothly, and then accelerates consistently. Overtake racers on the hills – no problem! Now in aluminium, it’s a Flying Dutchman with a Knight Rider moving lights display.

Stella is the market leader in the Netherlands for the direct sale of pedelecs to end users. Sales and service take place at the customer’s home via Stella staff, who use vans for their customer visits. In addition, Stella now has some test centres in the Netherlands and is also looking across the border, into Germany for example. The Stella Copenhague pleased the test riders very well indeed. The front drive system may not be equipped with a torque sensor but its controllability impressed nonetheless. Only when starting off on a very steep gradient did this lead to an excessively reluctant and delayed application of assistance. This design was described by the testers as a faithful modern version of the classic Dutch bike, with some playful details. Even without the motor, it rode superbly easily. The drive system is very quiet, and what little noise there is, is not irritating, and it’s drowned out by tyre and wind noise above 20 km/h.
