Fischer City E-Bike ECU 1720 - Easy Good

A bike for relaxed cruising. On the hills some extra assistance would be welcome. The specification is comfort-oriented and functional, but kept simple. Frame has scope for improvement.

At 1599 Euro the price is keen, but ExtraEnergy’s recommendation is clear: spend 400 Euro more and buy its sister model, the Fischer Trekking E-Bike ETD 1761 instead, and you’ll receive a significantly better product per Euro. Even though the models look similar at first glance, they differ absolutely massively in their measured performance. The frame in particular makes the difference: the ECU 1720 does have a somewhat lower step-through, but it is nowhere near as stable as its sister model, the ETD 1761. The motor has some play in the pedals, which is clearly connected to the coaster brake function. This bike has three brakes: one coaster and two Shimano V-brakes. As is usual with coaster brakes, they were a Marmite feature: some love them, and others hate them. Everyone prefers what they’re accustomed to. In the ergonomics test, the bike did well with its rating of 2.1 for ease of operation. Practical touches: removable pedals and a twist-flat stem.
