Easy to handle and lively, the Winora Y280.X gives good assistance in every situation, and rode to a “Very Good” in the easy pedelec product group.
Test riders liked the blue accents on the matt-grey frame of this pleasing, compact bike.
The 250W Yamaha mid motor provided good assistance in every situation, "but it still required significant pedalling effort to get full power from the motor".
But it rode well even without the motor. Also praised was the Shimano Altus 8-speed gearing, which “reacted wonderfully easily.”
When it comes to intuitive usability, Yamaha have taken a real step forwards. ExtraEnergy has for many years bemoaned the placement of their “on switch”, and they’ve now made some changes. When getting on the bike, the rider cannot see the on/off switch, but nonetheless it’s no problem to find and operate it, thanks to the internationally standard pictogram for “on/off” on the remote control unit. Test riders also rated it highly for ease of use, with the caveat that the icons on the remote control unit could be clearer.
In the dealer survey, above average good results were given for service availability, battery longevity and the reliability of the drive system.
