The BionX-System functions on almost every bike equipped with a derrailure gear system. The system was installed on our test bike (Univega MTB) in one hour by a bike dealer – experts require 30 min. Specifics: in “normal mode” the motor is not engaged; there are four levels of motor engagement, and four levels where the system serves as a generator. The generator modes feed energy back into the battery by braking while traveling downhill. This generating allows for a 7 to 16 percent longer riding-time. The efficiency of the system sets new standards and is unreached by production models; the variety of the system settings provides wonderfully for individual needs.
