Nicknamed Rex lead-heavy - almost 40kg - but to that, dirt-cheap in the purchase and expensive in the upkeepRating 2008: FairPrice: 549 EUR
The first bike from a food grocer in the ExtraEnergy Test. The driving performance is respectable, and besides a torn throttle cable, there were no breakdowns during the test period--a compliment at this price! The joy of riding was rather modest, particularly with the larger test riders.
A reason to return it would be the understated weight: around 33kg was given, we measured 38.5kg. Completely different was the range: around 30km given, while we tested 58.6km!
The battery charger is dangerous because of the open contacts, which could easily short circuit. The bike is expensive to service because the battery, as known from experience, will not last longer than a year.
Pros + The low purchase price
Cons - High weight - High operation costs - Expensive battery - Dangerous battery charger
