European Safety Standard for LEV Batteries

On 30 August 2012, the organizations ZVEI e.V., ZIV e.V. and BATSO e.V. announced their plans to work on an Europe-wide safety standard for LEV batteries.
 

 
The organizations "Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V. (ZVEI)", "Zweirad-Industrie-Verband e.V. (ZIV)" and "Battery Safety Organization (BATSO e.V.)" announced their collaboration on 30 August 2012. The aim of the collaboration is to release Europe-wide safety standards for LEV batteries.

These Europe-wide safety standards will be based on the existing BATSO Standard.

On the long run, the intention is to release a worldwide safety standard for Li-Ion batteries of LEVs.
