emtas trains tutors to talk EnergyBus

On the 4th April 2014, EnergyBus partner emtas GmbH taught technical instructors and tutors at the Lycée Technique Ettelbruck in Luxembourg.

The tutors wanted to come up to speed on EnergyBus. Andreas Boebel, Diplom-Ingenieur in Electrical Engineering, Managing Director of emtas GmbH, and instructor for CANopen training and embedded development projects, led the EnergyBus course on the 4th April 2014 in Luxembourg. The participants were a varied mix of engineers in electrical engineering, information technology and communications engineering who lecture in the technical colleges of Ettelbruck, Luxemburg-Stadt and Esch-Alzette.

These technical trainers and teachers needed to bring existing experience in programming microcontrollers and in computer networking. But the special aspects of networking via CANopen/EnergyBus were however new to the majority of them.

During the course Andreas Boebel informed the participants about CAN, CANopen and the CANopen Profile CiA-454 (EnergyBus), about the CANopen Slave Stack and the EnergyBus Framework, and also about a device and application profile. Andreas Boebel followed this with the implementation of EnergyBus with the aid of examples such as the EnergyBus Starter and the EnergyBus DemoKit, and gave an introduction to the ‘CANopen DeviceExplorer Demo’ simulation software and explained the ways in which this might be applied in future practical courses at the college.
