Green Week
Brussels, June 3 - 6, 2008
Every year, the European Commission organizes a Green Week, which is a week of seminars, workshops and events aimed at discussing environmental problems and solutions. The central theme this year was “Only One Earth, don’t waste it”. The Green Week took place from 3 to 6 June in the Charlemagne-building, just across the Berlaymont-building in the heart of Brussels’ European district.

On June  4 and 5 companies who are members of ETRA  provided different kinds of vehicles for test riding on the ExtraEnergy Test Track.  Despite chilly, rainy weather, Nicholas Hanley of the European Commission took a ride on the Velo-city 2007 bicycle without motor and - for comparison - on a Batavus pedelec. Mr. Hanley is positive that electric bikes will help promote cycling as an alternative to other means of individual transportation.
