For the second time since their inception earlier this year, the ExtraEnergy Pedelec and E-bike Trophies were awarded in Munich on 22 July. Honored were the best pedelecs and e-bikes in the latest product test of the organization. Senior representatives of the winning manufacturers accepted the trophies in 10 product categories.
 

 
Nine vehicles tested in the ExtraEnergy Spring 2010 Test won the 10 product categories (for different target groups). One pedelec walked (cycled?) away with trophies in two categories - the BikeTec Flyer X-Series MTB.

For the first time winners were crowned in the categories Mixed Mobility (folding bikes) and Utility Pedelecs (load-carrying bikes). BikeTec also went home with one of these trophies.

The categories
The categories in which the trophies were awarded represent different user areas and client wishes. The categories are the product of an analysis and weighting of client wishes by ExtraEnergy, which is unique in the sector to date. The weighting of client wishes, for example, strong support from the motor, or a long range, takes its direction from the different target groups.

To a father the range and reliability of an e-vehicle is typically more important than the design, while power and looks are the most important characteristics to a sporty e-cyclist.

The new product categories are ExtraEnergy's answer to the proliferation of models in the e-vehicle market, which has brought with it a diversification of demands. With this categorization and the new awards, the organization hopes to have created another useful orientation point for consumers and a motivational force for excellence in the industry.
