The International Light Electric Vehicle Conference took place during Taipei Cycle Show, which was scheduled early this year from March 4-7, 2005. Show and Congress Organizer TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) invited experts from the industry to speak about the LEV world market and its issues on March 5-6, 2005.

The agenda introduced new speakers and topics to the LEV public. The French market was a major topic this year presented by Gaetan Bayle, EV Showroom owner in Lyon. Ni Jie, President of Luyuan told the impressive story of the Chinese market history which his company has been part of from the very beginning. The concept of marketing pedelecs through tourism channels is new to the industry and was presented by Biketec CEO Kurt Schaer. Frank Moeller from Drive Tec in England demonstrated a promising power split motor system.

The bi-lingual Chinese/English congress was extremely well attended throughout the two days of speeches.

ITRI is planning to continue this kind of industry get-together for the next years. Long speeches might change into a panel discussion to encourage more participants and opinions.
