About the ExtraEnergy Pedelec and E-Bike Test
ExtraEnergy has been testing pedelecs and e-bikes as an independent organisation since 1992
At that time there were only three such bikes available on the market worldwide. Now, over 40 bikes take part in each test session, and places are much in demand.
Manufacturers have no influence on the test results, but they do have sight of a test report before publication, complete with key advice and a comprehensive analysis of the measured performance data.
Offroad Test – Ride Test – Ergonomics Test
The ExtraEnergy Pedelec and E-Bike Test encompasses either Ride & Ergonomics testing, or Offroad & Ergonomics testing.
To capture as realistic a picture as possible of the bike’s performance in everyday use, the tests are largely carried out under real world conditions. The riding tests in Tanna are conducted using custom-developed, and to this date unique, measurement technology. Key values for range, power assist level, drive system efficiency, average speeds and more are determined for Tour, Hills and City test routes.
In the ergonomics tests, everyday usability and ease of operation are evaluated by the largest possible number of testers.
In the Offroad Test, the ride performance of participating offroad pedelecs will be evaluated by carefully selected mountain bike riders on a predetermined singletrack circuit.
