The new round of pedelec and e-bike tests will kick off on 11 September. ExtraEnergy reports manufacturers have been rushing to book their new bikes for the upcoming test. The team of volunteer riders for the test has been chosen and the line-up of bikes to be tested (almost) finalized. Throughout, media interest in the tests remained strong.
Industry, clients and the media are all growing to appreciate the value of the pedelec and e-bike test. Sales of the second issue of the ExtraEnergy magazine remained strong in the wake of BIKE EXPO 2010 and journalists kept on knocking on ExtraEnergy's door for interviews. The latest TV report was flighted on MDR on 4 August and can be viewed by clicking on the link below (report in German only).

Register for test in September Places for the ExtraEnergy test are scarce and sought-after. Only 30 bikes can be tested in any given test. Manufacturers may still apply for places in the September test. Note: Participants pay for their vehicles to be tested.

The money collected goes towards financing the test and guaranteeing the independence of ExtraEnergy. The industry cannot influence the test results, but receive them before they are published, together with important suggestions and a comprehensive analysis of the results.
Test riders In Tanna up to seven test riders will test-ride the vehicles in the field over a 2-week period. It will be a tough job, which will put the test riders on a steep learning curve. The volunteer test riders for the September test have already been named and notified.
On the other hand, at the ergonomic test as many test riders will be needed as possible. This mass test will again be the first stage of the multi-stage ExtraEnergy test. The ergonomic test is an intuitive consumer test, where volunteers check the vehicles in a number of everyday situations, to determine their portability, the ease of removing and replacing batteries and more. The next test will in all probability take place in the Dutch city of Utrecht on 11 and 12 September. Interested parties from anywhere in the world are welcome to participate and test the latest models of pedelecs and e-bikes.
