The second generation test laboratory for battery safety testing is now in operation at the ITRI institute in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
The 2nd generation test laboratory of its kind has been designed for battery pack safety testing. It has been built in Germany under the leadership of ExtraEnergy for Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI).
In late February first tests were successfully completed. After final safety check, the 140,000 Euro lab was shipped to Taiwan. It is now in operation for pack testing according to the Batso.org standard on the grounds of ITRI in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
This will help to check the safety of battery pack in a quick and cost effective way also in Asia.
The Batso.org standard battery safety tests has again been tightened. Details were presented at LEV Conference on March 21, 2007.
