Ultra Motor, Head of Design
Germany
Born 1969 in Berlin, Germany
Staff Editor: Please tell us something about your career and profession. Norbert Haller: My passion is bicycles, since I started racing BMX and MTB in 1985. I studied Industrial design at the University of Arts in Berlin, Germany, in 1992, focused on transportation design. 1998 I founded Craftsmen Design with a friend, since this time we are working in the LEV and bicycle field for customers in Europe, USA, and Asia. Since 2007 I am leading the design department of Ultra Motor.
SE: When and how did you get involved in LEVs? NB: I was disappointed of all electric vehicle designs I‘ve seen, when I was studying, so I made my degree (1998) on new electric vehicle concepts and designs in cooperation with Hawk Bikes and Audi.
SE: What is your personal motivation to work in LEVs? NB: Electric Vehicles are the future and LEVs will be a big part of it, but at this time the breakthrough has not happened. Products have to fulfill many demands in addition to the design. I‘m focused on high quality design work and new concepts that fulfill these demands.
