Starting with the 2008 ExtraEnergy Test, the results will be analyzed according to the needs of specific target groups. Test Manager Frieder Herb presented the new evaluation system in Taipei in March 2008.
With the market and the product variety growing, how do customers make the right choices? People often ask: Which electric bike is the best? There is no simple answer to that. It always depends on what the customer wants to use the bike for.
The ExtraEnergy testing of electric bikes has been helpful with such tough decisions. In the future, ExtraEnergy plans to evaluate the test results according to the needs of specific customer target groups. Test manager Frieder Herb presented the so-called Quality Function Deployment Method (QFD), which is based on the assumption that certain target groups have certain requirements. Every tested bike will be evaluated by this method for every target group. A system of numbers helps to distinguish the best bike for a certain target group.
To give an example: Among the bikes tested in 2007, the Biketec Flyer T8 Premium reached the highest score when it comes to meeting the requirements of a touring electric bike.
The presentation of Frieder Herb is included in the LEV Conference 2008 Proceedings and will be available for download at LEVConference.org soon.
