Former technical Manager EnergyBus / ExtraEnergy Tests
Staff Editor: Please tell us something about your career and profession.
Melanie Wiederkehr: I studied Mechatronics (engineering, electronics, and IT) at the University of Cooperative Education (BerufsAkademie) in Stuttgart, Germany. I finished with a Diploma in 2007. Since 2007 I have been responsible for the technical development of EnergyBus. Since 2009 I am also the technical manager of the ExtraEnergy pedelec and e-bike test.
SE: When and how did you get involved in LEVs?
MW: I got invited to the BATSO and EnergyBus Conference in Nürnberg, Germany. I cought fire for the subject and decided to join the further development.
SE: What is your personal motivation to work in LEVs?
MW: Personally, I like to ride bikes. But there are areas where human power is just not enough, e.g. at steep hills or with heavy luggage. In cases like this, it is just fun to switch on the electric assistance and leave the cars behind at the traffic light. Many types of development are only possible with a standardized interface of the electric components.
