Staff Editor: Please tell us something about your career and profession.
Jim Turner: In my teens I was two time National Motocross Champion. I graduated from University of California with a BS in Applied Mechanics then received a Masters Degree from Stanford Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. After Stanford, I worked at Ford Motor Company in Advanced Vehicle Controls Division. I then moved back to California
and developed a patented chemical dispensing systems. After a year of bicycle touring in Asia,in the 1990s, I developed a patented precision semiconductor machine
that is used throughout the world to manufacture wafers. In 1997, I began development of Optibike.
SE: When and how did you get involved in LEVs?
JT: I became involved in electric bike in 1997.. I wanted to combine my strengths as a Motocross racer and knowledge of servo systems and motors to build the best electric
bike in the world.
SE: What is your personal motivation to work in LEVs?
JT: I want to improve the environment and quality of life of people while having my own company.
