At IFMA in Cologne, and Post Expo in Brussels, ExtraEnergy showed postal delivery bikes and other cargo vehicles in the special exhibition CARGO BIKE Expo.
Next to the pedelec- and e-bike test ride area, Extra Energy displayed innovative Post and Cargo Bicycles from leading European and American manufacturers.
The Cargo Bike Exhibition was presented at
IFMA Cologne, Germany, (September 11-14, 2003) and Post Expo in Brussels, Belgium (
October 7 - 9, 2003).
In response to increasing competition Post and Parcel services seek higher capacity and lower maintenance bicycles to help serve their customers more quickly, safely, ecologically and economically.
Cargo bicycles are an attractive solution to demands for low pollution post and parcel distribution, such as in inner London, and also to enabling the distribution of both letters and small parcels in one tour.
Post administrations, particularly in Scandinavia, are concerned about the ageing of their postal carriers and are looking for cargo bicycles that allow staff to fully continue their duties until retirement.
Accomplishing these three goals has made priorities of low maintenance, electrical power assist and battery capacity adequate for a full delivery day, even in hilly terrain.
At this special booth, Extra Energy displayed both well-proven, traditional post and cargo bicycles, and the latest developments in cargo bicycles and research, such as the ExtraEnergy battery test with the Deutsche Post AG.
